North County High School Delivery
North County High School (NCHS) is a public high school located in Glen Burnie, Maryland, and is part of the Anne Arundel County Public Schools system. Established in 1994, NCHS serves students from the northern part of Anne Arundel County and offers a comprehensive curriculum with a focus on college and career readiness.
Academics
NCHS offers a wide range of academic courses to prepare students for their chosen post-secondary path. The school follows the Maryland State Department of Education’s graduation requirements, which includes four credits in English, math, science, and social studies. In addition to these core subjects, NCHS also offers courses in foreign languages, fine arts, technology education, and physical education.
One unique aspect of NCHS is its Signature Program offerings. These are specialized programs designed to provide students with focused learning opportunities in specific areas of interest. There are currently four Signature Programs offered at NCHS: Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, International Studies, and Performing Arts. The Aerospace Engineering program allows students to explore the concepts of aerospace engineering through hands-on projects and real-world experiences. Students in this program have the opportunity to work with flight simulators, build and launch rockets, and participate in field trips to local aviation companies.
The Biomedical Sciences program is designed for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare or biomedical research. Through rigorous coursework and hands-on learning experiences, students gain a deep understanding of human physiology and medical procedures. They also have the opportunity to shadow professionals in various healthcare fields and participate in internships at hospitals and research facilities.
In addition to these specialized programs, our school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for students to explore their interests and develop new skills. We have numerous clubs and organizations focused on areas such as robotics, environmental science, debate, and community service. Students also have the opportunity to participate in sports teams and compete against other schools in various athletic events.
Our goal is not only to provide students with a comprehensive education but also to prepare them for success beyond high school. We offer college preparatory courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) classes, which give students the chance to earn college credit while still in high school. We also have partnerships with local colleges and universities that allow students to take courses and earn dual credit, giving them a head start on their college education.
In addition to academic opportunities, we also provide students with resources for career exploration and development. Our school has a guidance department that offers counseling services, career assessments, and information on different career paths. We also have partnerships with local businesses and organizations that offer internships and job shadowing experiences for interested students.
At our school, we believe in the importance of extracurricular activities and their impact on personal growth. We offer a wide range of clubs and organizations for students to join, including academic clubs, service groups, cultural associations, and more. These activities not only help students develop skills outside of the classroom but also allow them to explore their interests and passions.
