Find stunning Christmas Wreaths for your home or as a gift when you holiday shop at Maher’s Florist
Maher's Florist Maher's Florist produces caring and stunning Christmas Wreaths. Christmas decorations and wreaths provide so much beauty and holiday spirit to the season. As you select your Wreath, you may be interested to know more about the symbolism surrounding Christmas Wreaths. The Christmas Wreath represents eternity. This is because of its circular shape which signifies it has no beginning and no end. In addition, Christmas Wreaths are traditionally made from evergreen leaves. The evergreen tree does not shed its leaves in the winter thus symbolizing eternal life. Christmas decoration colors also have different meanings. Historians think the tradition of displaying Christmas decorations dates back to the 15th century. In London, during this century, it was a custom that homes and parish churches display ivy, holly and other various natural decorations. People felt that the heart-shaped leaves of ivy symbolized Jesus coming to earth and that holly provided protection against witches. Plus its thorns and red berries represented the Crown of Thorns worn by Jesus at his crucifixion. The traditional selection of red, green and gold decorations is purposeful also. Gold is one of the first colors associated with Christmas. It symbolizes royalty as it was one of the three gifts of the Wise Men. Red symbolizes the blood of Jesus shed during crucifixion. In 1839, a Lutheran priest came up with the idea to use a wagon wheel to symbolize the approach of Christmas. Using the wheel he would use red and white candles to reflect the Advent season. In the Roman Catholic Church, the season of Advent is four Sundays in December each one taking on a different theme: On the First Sunday, the church looks forward to the Second Coming of Christ. On the Second Sunday, the church reviews the message that John the Baptist preached. His message was for Christians to "prepare the way of the Lord". On the Third Sunday, which is referred to as Gaudete Sunday, the theme is again surrounding the joy Christians have by the coming of the Saviour. On the Fourth Sunday, the theme is about Mary and Joseph and how the events led up to the birth of Jesus. This holiday season we would be honored to have you visit with one of our Maher's Florist floral designers. The care we put into every floral product creation will leave you coming back for all special occasions. Maher’s Florist offers the best value at the best price this Black Friday shopping day and everyday
Maher's Florist Retailers are preparing for that super busy shopping day referred to as "Black Friday". The past two years have been challenging to say the least because of Covid. Predictions are that 2021 should be improved in terms of in store sales. Still safety precautions are warranted. Maher's Florist offers many special product sales that would be perfect as a caring holiday gift or for your home. We also offer the convenience and safety of shopping online. The concept of "Black Friday" has an interesting history. From originally being named Black Friday because people called in sick the day after Thanksgiving, to the police in some major cities referring to the day as Black Friday because of the crowds and traffic to today being commonly referred to as the best holiday shopping day. In addition to being the best shopping day of the season, Black Friday is also known as the beginning of USA Christmas shopping season. Last year, when Covid was peaking, many people opted for online purchasing so they could safely shop from home. That has been a growing trend for several years and now has become even more popular. However, for those that want to get out and visit stores in person, the opportunities will be there. Following Black Friday, there are a couple of additional special shopping opportunities: Small Business Saturday occurs between November 24th and November 30th. This day falls in as one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. First observed in the United States on November 27, 2010, Small Business Saturday is within the same theme as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These are days when shopping at retailers and e-commerce stores is at its height of the season. Small Business Saturday encourages shoppers to visit local businesses to make purchases. Obviously a great financial focus for communities and the entrepreneurs that live and work there. American Express is a major supporter of Small Business Saturday. They actually promoted the holiday on 2010 on radio, television and Facebook. Maher's Florist is a one of your local and longtime community neighbors. We take extreme pleasure in supporting our community and would be honored to have you visit us. Our products are top notch and our talented floral designers are among the best in the industry. Not only are our flowers beautiful to the sight but we also have delectable treats that are wonderful to the taste! Cyber Monday is sometimes referred to as "Blue Monday" and was created as a special day to encourage consumers to do online shopping. This is a perfect theme now when many people would much prefer to stay in their home and shop from their computer where they are away from crowds. This day falls on the first Monday following Thanksgiving. The term Cyber Monday originated in 2005 by a member of the National Retail Federation. It was advertised in a publication as the up and coming biggest online shopping date of the year. During that year 77% of [...]
Shop with Maher’s Florist this Thanksgiving holiday and make your home festive and fresh with our flowers and holiday décor
Maher's Florist On Thanksgiving, create a festive and fresh atmosphere with lovely flowers from Maher's Florist. Our talented floral designers have produced some of the most sensational holiday floral products to be found. As history tells us, Thanksgiving originated in 1621. During a very cold winter when the Pilgrims first landed in America, they were able to survive by the generosity of the Native Americans that shared food with them. To repay their new friends, the Pilgrims held a three day feast. The bounty they shared included dried fruits, boiled pumpkin, turkey, venison and other foods. A slightly different menu from what we are accustomed to but no doubt a delightful feast at that time. Over the many years the theme of a celebration of harvest has continued to evolve. Today we think of Thanksgiving as a time to give thanks for our foundation of this great Nation. Of course it is also the official start of the holiday season and a special time of fellowship with family and friends. Upon receiving consistent encouragement from some, President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a nation wide holiday in 1863. As many people will be traveling and or hosting the Thanksgiving Day meal in their home, there are guidelines to contemplate according to the CDC. Some of their refreshed guidelines from last year are: Protect those not yet eligible for vaccination such as young children by getting yourself and other eligible people around them vaccinated. Wear well-fitting masks over your nose and mouth if you are in public indoor settings if you are not fully vaccinated. Even those who are fully vaccinated should wear a mask in public indoor settings in communities with substantial to high transmission. Avoid crowded, poorly ventilated spaces. If you are sick or have symptoms, don’t host or attend a gathering. Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have a close contact with someone who has COVID-19. If you are considering traveling for a holiday or event, visit CDC’s travel page to help you decide what is best for you and your family. CDC still recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated. If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, follow CDC’s domestic traveler or international travel recommendations for unvaccinated people. If you will be traveling in a group or family with unvaccinated people, choose safer travel options. Everyone, even people who are fully vaccinated, is required to wear a mask on public transportation and follow international travel recommendations". On this Veterans Day, show respect and appreciation to a Veteran by sending beautiful flowers or plants from Maher’s Florist
Maher's Florist This and every November 11th is Veterans Day . The history behind this particular date is that in 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all major hostilities of World War I were formally ended. The day was originally termed Armistice Day and was created to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans. A respectable way to honor a Veteran on this special day, is to send a flower arrangement or plant from Maher's Florist. President Woodrow Wilson gave a memorable speech in 1919 during which he commended the men and women of the United States military. "To us in America the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service, and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of nations". Armistice Day and Remembrance Day are celebrated in other countries as a remembrance to the end of World War I. However in 1954, Veterans Day became the official name for our United States day to honor our military men and women. Veterans Day differs from Memorial Day. While both days honor our military, Memorial Day is designated to honor those who died while fighting for our country. Veterans Day is designated to honor all of the military folks who have served our country. In addition to a caring floral product from Maher's Florist, below is a short list of ideas for other kind acts to honor a Veteran. Volunteer your skills - If you have knowledge of a trade or financial planning etc., veterans can benefit from your volunteer teaching. Donate Money - There are several organizations that support veterans and they can always use private donations. Donate frequent-flyer miles - For any of us that travel a lot for work or pleasure, perhaps you have accumulated some extra travel miles that you may not use. One organization that would love the free flyer miles is the Fisher House Foundation Hero Miles Program. They are dedicated to assisting family members with travel expenses so that they can be close to their loved one who may be ill or injured. Veteran Speaker - Many veterans have wonderful and inspirational stories of over coming adversity and never giving up. Find one that enjoys speaking to other veterans. Hire a veteran - If you own a small business or are in a hiring position at a company, perhaps hire a veteran who is anxious to get out into the working world. Hire a veteran's caregiver - Offering support to veteran's families is so valuable. Plus many of these folks are incredible employees. Do business with a veteran-owned company - Astonishingly there are an estimated 27 million veteran owned small businesses in the U.S. These companies are run by the fine men and [...]

The concept of "National Boss's Day" was introduced to the United States Chamber of Commerce in 1958 by a woman . She was working for her father as a secretary at a State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois. In her observation, it did not seem clear to younger workers that their supervisors were dedicated, committed and hard working individuals. She felt their dedication needed to be realized and appreciated. For years it was customary for an employee to simply give their boss or supervisor a card.
