Welcome in the Spring season with beautiful and fresh same day delivery flowers for Maher’s Florist

If you would like to surprise someone, send them one of our Spring flower bouquets. They will be excited and happy. March 20th is the first day of Spring. Daylight Savings time kicks in so we have more daylight after work and the weather is warming.  For many people Spring is a favorite time of year. I have heard friends say that it is a time of renewed life as trees and flowers bloom.  For these folks Spring creates an overwhelming sense of joy. Then for some of us it is a stepping stone for the summer season. The warmer weather of Spring is caused by the actual tilting of the earth's axis toward the Sun. This increases the amount of daylight which increases the warmth of temperature. In order to offer more daylight for outside activities, the majority of our states convert to Daylight Savings time. In the United States and United Kingdom located in the Northern Hemisphere, Spring time is defined as March, April and May. However, in the Southern Hemisphere, countries like Australia and New Zealand are experiencing autumn. In that Hemisphere Spring time is defined as September, October and November. While many of us are officially observing the season of Spring, countries like Sweden are not. In Sweden, Spring is defined as the first occasion on which the average temperature exceeds zero degrees Celsius. This is tricky because of the many varying elevations in Sweden. As you might  imagine, while one geographic area of the country has exceeded zero degrees Celsius, higher elevations have not. Spring time like all seasons brings extreme weather conditions that we have be mindful of and stay vigilant. Flooding is common in some parts of the country as snow and ice masses begin to melt. Streams and rivers are taxed at this time of year and many times are not able to handle the additional volume of water. As their banks overflow, communities can be in danger of flooding. Then there is the issue of the warmer air coming in contact with the colder air that has not yet stopped streaming down from the North and South Poles. The effect of these two air masses causes the threat of severe weather which can be dangerous. There are numerous Spring flowers and some of the ones to first appear are below: Lilies - Trumpet shaped blooms coming in a multitude of colors, Lilies are fragrant and elegant. March 8, 2021 is International Women's Day. Maher's Florist offers fresh and dazzling flower arrangements to honor a special woman or women's group on this day. When you look back in history, it is amazing how much progress has been made for Women's equality. Women now hold many powerful and influential positions within our society. Of course this was not always the case. The first International Women's Day was held in the United States in 1909. Then the day began to gain popularity in other countries and by 1911 it was observed in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.  In honor of this in 2011 there was a 100 year anniversary to celebrate. So here it is 2021 and the world is a changed place in so many ways. One way is that women now have gained momentum in terms of job equality and opportunity. That is not to say there is not still room for improvement but much progress has been made in a century. You now find women in numerous high level roles within the public and private sector. Women now can be found in many boardrooms. In order to honor the meaning of International Women's Day, a beautiful flower arrangement from Maher's Florist will be a welcomed surprise.
